Abia State Governor in waiting is Dr Okezie Victor
Ikpeazu, Ph.D
#In_Case_You_DidNt_Know
The Abia State
REC and RO depicted induced and highly compromised.
The Returning Officer; Prof. Ben Ozumba, under whose
directive the University of Nigeria, Nsukka had conferred an Honourary
Doctorate Degree on Mr. Alexander Otti in Business Administration on January
26, 2013, in sharp contrast with the tenets of veracity, transparency and
dignity, announced that the results of elections from the three local
governments that everybody in the state knows to be among the strong holds of
Dr. Okezie Ikeazu had been cancelled. Of course, at his level of intellectual
development, he should have known that an election result already declared at a
local government area by the appropriate Collation Officer should not be
tampered with. Another is Professor Selina Omagha Oko, whose immorality and
lack of transparency and integrity compelled the Professor Jega-led Independent
National Electoral Commission to send her on a punitive compulsory leave in
2011 owing to her despicable behaviour
(Google ThisDay Newspaper of 3rd May 2011; Imo REC Sent on Leave, As
Supervising REC Takes-over) during the governorship election in Imo State.
It
is an open secret that Professor Selina Oko, Cousin to APGA’s candidate, had
held clandestine meetings with cronies of Mr. Alexander Otti severally at a
branch of Diamond Bank at Aba. Being morally bankrupt, Mrs Oko was all out to
take maximum pecuniary advantage of the guber election in Abia State and since
the desperation of Mr. Otti blind-folded her against the realities of Abia
political situation, her avarice became fuelled to such a dangerous extremity
that Professor Ozumba had to become a victim of her greed.

It is illegal for the Abia State REC and RO to have
cancelled any LGA results of the April 11th 2015 gubernatorial
election. A result of a Local Government Area (LGA) that has been collated,
registered, signed by the different party agents and already declared at the
council is proscribed to be void base on the electoral laws of Federal Republic
of Nigeria.
This is because a
returning Officer has no power under law to declare the election inconclusive.
In the case of Nwokolo v Uboh(2012)17 NWLR part 1330 pg 604 at 611
paragraphsD-F and 612 B-C the court said:" by virtue of section 68
subsection of Electoral Act 2010, a Returning Officer is to declare the result
of an election by declaring the scores of the candidates leaving an aggrieved
party with his option under the Act. It is not for him to declare the election
inconclusive. When he declares an election inconclusive such action is ultra
vires and void because he has no power to do so. See INEC V Abubakar 2009 8
NWLR part 1143 and Mark v Abubakar 2009 2 NWLR part 1124 page 79. At page 611
of thesame case Nwosu Iheme JCA said " a decision that an election is
inconclusive is outside the purview of section 68(1)".
INEC definitely has been so biased to the leading
candidate, Dr.Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, for not declaring the winner of the Abia
State gubernatorial election of April 11th.

Nde Abia will
be seen as “Mugus” especially, the Abia Central and Abia South people, if the
lies-peddling and propaganda-media-Maga; the APGA’s candidate wins
the election. Whereas, Otti’s expected lost at the polls
reveals his political inexperience when he did not consider having his running
mate from the Obingwa, Osisioma or Ugwunnagbo LGAs which are all part of Ngwa
land, to maintain the political equity of the state; Abia North/Abia South
Standing like all previous governors did. Chief Orji Uzor’s two term
administrations 1999-2007 had Abia North/Abia South candidature. Also, the Abia
State outgoing Governor, Ochendo used the same arrangement. Ngwaland has always
had the bloc vote that largely define who wins governorship elections in Abia.
Alex chose his running mate from the same senatorial district as himself.
To
Alex Otti, Abia State Charter of Equity (a document on which the state was founded and
created for the emergence of governor from the 3 senatorial zones is by
rotation) is tosh and meaningless. Thank God the
results so far have shown whose political ideology is bunkum and hogwash. Why
then will any right thinking Abian be surprised that an area so strategic in
making all the governors so far will not return huge votes for their son, Dr
Ikpeazu.

God Humbles the Proud and Raises up the Humble.
As it has been seen
all over Abia State that Alex Otti and his Supporters are eaten up with
self-glorification; being all in all in Abia state. It is on record that Alex
Otti does not have any visible or recorded development and empowerment
footprints in Abia State pre to the elections.
Notwithstanding, Alex Otti and
his Supporters’ campaign refrains like “Alex Bu Dimkpa”, "Alex Nwere Weight" etc revealed his self-glorifying
attitude. Whereas, the winner of the election and who has many major effective
footprints, the Dr. Okezie Victor
Chibuikem Ikpeazu, with an obvious irreversible margin of 83,053 votes lead is
still very humble and appealing to voters to come out and vote for him more
during the supplementary election on 25th April, 2015. But Alex is
arrogantly lying and deceiving voters that he has already won.

Attahiru Jega, chairman of the independent national electoral
commission (INEC), today said
INEC made a mistake in cancelling the results of three local government areas
in the April 11 governorship election in Abia state.
The professor of political science, who made this known while
addressing Nigerian civil society situation room in Abuja on Tuesday, promised
that his team would make amends within the ambit of the law, on the Abia
cancellations.
“When there are issues but announcement of result has been made, there is nothing we can do. If a mistake was made and we could correct it within the legal framework, then we intervene and make corrections,” he said.
“It was a mistake to cancel elections in the three LGAs in Abia. We said particular affected wards to be cancelled – not the three LGAs.”
